The music
Purrple Cat is a lofi project that began in December 2018 with Up All Night, and now has 500+ songs, 500M+ streams and 425K followers. Most of it is instrumental; Memories and Please Hold Me have vocals, and their songs are marked.
The mixtapes
Each mixtape holds the 12 songs whose Spotify-style audio features (energy, valence, acousticness, danceability) fit it best. Song titles never keep a song off a tape; the first song is just the best-named one among those that fit.
The files
MP3s come straight from Purrple Cat’s own file host. Cover art is the original album art, only resized. No account, no ads, no tracking cookies.
Questions
Is this lofi music really free?
Yes. Every song in the box is a Purrple Cat Self Release under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY 4.0). Listening, downloading and using it cost nothing. The one condition is credit.
Can I use it in my YouTube videos or streams?
Yes, with credit, on all social media platforms (YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Twitch, Facebook, X…), livestreams included, monetised or not. Paste: Music by Purrple Cat (purrplecat.com), licensed under CC BY 4.0: creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/
What can’t I do with it?
Neither the music nor remixes, samples or covers of it may be uploaded to music streaming services like Spotify, Apple Music or YouTube Music, because that causes false Content ID claims.

Can I just listen here?
Yes. Press play on any tape and the player at the bottom keeps going while you look around. Rummage (the ? button) plays a random song from the box.
